One could argue if the lowered encounter rate with higher XP gain to compensate truly makes the game easier or not. Some encounters can also be made easier by being able to turn swap (which has been in every remake, not specific to this remaster.) In practice, this doesn't make too much difference in the end. HP numbers the same, damage numbers the same.įunctionally, there are some minor advantages in the changes to arrows being infinite rather than consumable. I've compared against SNES long-play videos on YouTube at multiple points in my playthrough and my level was within that 1-2 level range at every point before the Crystal Palace.

(Some bugged enemy abilities hit for the correct amounts now.) If anything, the only major things I've noticed are actually to make a few things harder. Nothing about the damage calculations or other theories seems different at all. The only time this doesn't hold true is in the Crystal Palace where you will get to mid-60s much easier without grinding at the final save point. Unless you go out of your way to grind, your level will be within "normal" ranges (maybe 1-2 higher at times) almost the entire game. XP gain per battle is higher, encounter rate is lower. I've seen this a lot and commented elsewhere about it.Ĭompared to the SNES versions, no the game is really not notably easier at all.
